More Things I Ate — Before and After My Non-celebration of Thanksgiving

Leftover Amy’s Vegetarian Tagine with added Moroccan spiced tofu, roasted red kuri squash, garlic bread made from free rolls from New French Bakery via Walker Church. Fair State Roselle. Nov. 9

The one above was mainly to use up the Moroccan spiced tofu. It (the tofu) was not as good as I was expecting it to be. Amy’s Vegetarian Tagine tastes fine, like all Amy’s products; well, fine for a frozen dinner. But it’s not very filling. I would need two of them if I ate it plain, or a very substantial side dish of some kind.

Autumnal noms — wild rice, red kuri squash, brussels sprouts, tofu cubes, finished quickly in air fryer. Milk and Honey Blood Orange Cider. Nov. 12.

This was probably my favorite meal at home of all of November. I did follow through on my iconoclastic promise to have tuna-noodle hotdish for the meal we call “Thanksgiving.” Also, that Blood Orange flavor cider from Milk & Honey Ciders (St. Peter, MN) is really good. This was mainly to use up the last of the red kuri squash which I roasted in the air fryer several days before.

Leftover Gobbler pizza from Pizza Luce (mashed potato, turkey, stuffing, mushrooms, and cheddar.) Also Brussels. Also leftover garlic fries from Modern Times which is thankfully open for indoor dining. My homemade grown-up cranberry relish. Fever Tree tonic. Nov. 24.

I was not impressed with Pizza Luce’s three-day Thanksgiving special: The Gobbler Pizza. It is garlic butter, mashed baked potato, sliced deli turkey, bread stuffing gobbets, and cheddar cheese. Too much similar umami with no countering taste. It was supposed to…
