Deborama’s Kitchen — Reviews of meal kits, market boxes, and delivery services — Part one

Blue Apron — a meal that started me off on this quest. Sweet spicy barramundi with Baby bok choi in miso sauce and jasmine rice. Their picture; it was before I started doing pictures.

This is the first part of a review of various ways you can get food delivered to you — sometimes as raw materials, sometimes nearly ready to eat — via the internet. There are two broad areas this will not cover — restaurant or catering delivery services, such as Bite Squad, or specific programs, whether subsidized or not, public or private, to feed specific populations, such as seniors.

The things I will cover, in the whole four-part series, are meal kits (like Sun Basket), market boxes (like Imperfect Foods), and grocery shopping and delivery services (like Anycart, but not that one.) Parts one and two will be the first and second halves of the meal kits, part three will be market boxes, and part four will be shopping services.

This first one is only going to review three meal kits, because I am also devoting space (and your reading time) to listing all the services I am reviewing. First off, the meal kits, in alphabetical order:
* Blue Apron
* EveryPlate
* Green Chef
* Hello Fresh
* Home Chef
* Hungry Root
* Purple Carrot
* Sun Basket
